May 14 will not be a day like any other for the Argentine industry: on that date, the 18th. edition of Retail Day will take place, which is an event that brings together the leading representatives and decision-makers of the industry at the Buenos Aires Convention and Exhibition Center (CEC, for its acronym in Spanish). The aim of this summit is to discuss and present the latest news, receive training and do more and better business. The leading representatives of the industry, the local and regional retail chains and representatives of other sectors, such as the food, beverages, technology, software, services, IT, equipment, logistics and national distribution industries, will participate. This event is not only THE BEST place to discover the latest news about the universe of retail but also an opportunity to learn from specialized speakers that will address several issues regarding the industry as well as administration and management. On the same day, Digital Commerce – Retail Innovation II will also take place. This space is dedicated to IT and systems specialists, and there will be lectures and debates focused on digital business and brand positioning. All on the same day, in the same place.
Inside the Event
“Opportunity”, reads the Retail Day 2019 organizer’s site. The aim is “to participate, to show and tell the market who you are, what you produce and sell, to gain greater visibility, to promote your products and to push your
branding efforts with one purpose: increasing market share.” Under this premise, the day begins at 1 p.m. with the registration of attendees and a welcome speech by presenter Silvina Chediek. Apart from the possibility of visiting the stands of exhibitors, there will be a series of conferences every 15 minutes by specialists, business executives and professionals from other areas such as psychology –Bernardo Stamateas will discuss the topic of change at 4.45 p.m.– and humor –in charge of Alfredo Casero, who will speak about “The essence of Argentines and why we are in the state we are” at 7.45 p.m., almost at the end of the event.
Recommendations? Horacio Barbeito, President and CEO of Walmart Argentina and Chile will address a trending topic: the omni-channel experience. It begins at 2.30 p.m. In the afternoon, at 5.05 p.m., Diego Bekerman, General Manager of Microsoft Argentina, will talk about “The day the horse lost its job”. And a few minutes later, Rami Baitiéh, CEO of Carrefour, will discuss the keys to a better shopping experience from the customer’s point of view.
Stands will also be a must for attendees; there will be over 240 brands and exhibitors showing the latest news, trends and products related not only to the retail industry, but also to the consumer, technology, food and non-food industries. Leonardo Llalen, Director of Pusher-POP in Argentina, a company that offers technological solutions for points of sale, is one of the participants that will have their own space at the event. “We will be showing our latest releases and we will invite attendees to learn about the services Pusher-POP has to offer. Our aim is to present a technology that is relatively new in Argentina to the main retails in the market. The fact that we were present five years ago showing more cases of implementation proves our system’s consistency and efficiency. We also have the chance to reveal our new releases, some of which are related to pushers and others related to technology, like Pusher-POP Smart, our ideas lab, and StockBeacons, a device that allows gondolas or shelves to be digitalized,” announces Llalen.
Another highlight of the event will take place at 6.45 p.m., the PAR Awards, where the leading representatives of the industry will receive a special mention.
A Different Section for Digital Commerce
At the same time as the expo and the conference program, the Digital Commerce – Retail Innovation II will take place, with the participation of local and international speakers
specialized in the application of technology to the Retail industry. “This industry is facing an important challenge: stepping up the bar set by the online world, or at least living with it. To do so, applying technology is not enough. It is necessary to use it with a clear purpose in mind: facilitating and improving the experience of shoppers,” explains Francisco Blanco, President of SanFranTokyo, a digital marketing and advertising agency. Blanco, who has been invited by ENR, will discuss efficiency in gondolas, focusing on three main points: “feeling ideas instead of thinking about them, the importance of observing shoppers’ behavior, and technology as a tool instead of an aim.”
Apart from the conference by SFT, other speakers such as Iván Amas, Retail Commercial Manager of Grupo de Logística Andreani, and Santiago Arieu, Commercial Development Deputy Manager and Brand Studio of Clarin, will speak at the conference room, which is expected to receive over 1000 spectators.
